shop and save

This phrase has bugged me for years. You CANNOT shop and save. I can save by NOT shopping. They should be saying what they mean: "shop and SPEND LESS than you would shopping elsewhere".

Next time you see a "shop and save" commercial, go to that place of business, grab some merchandise and ask for a fiver. That way you do indeed shop AND save. In fact there should be a law that forces them to do this....something about false advertising.

When Robin and I worked at Mikadon Computers back in the late 80's/ early 90's one of the managers there made a sign that we used to make fun of, much along the same lines.

"I Saved a Bundle at Mikadon!" was the caption and there was a drawing of a man running along with two big bags full of dollar signs.

Now, that's how I'd like to leave a store one of these days.

That's not true - I *still* make fun of that sign!
