we are all greedy

Do you donate to charities? Is this one of the things that makes you a "good person"?

The reality is every cent we spend beyond our survival (food and shelter) is mainly for comfort or entertainment. If you own a TV than you decided that your televisions shows are more important than cancer research. It's like you have $10 to help 10 people but you agree to help 5 and spend the rest on wine gums. Sure it's better than helping nobody but the 5 people who aren't receiving your help are hoping those wine gums are real good.

Comfort, or entertainment, or video games!

Even our food and shelter typically go way beyond survival - we have more (or much more) than we need.

There should be a video game that conducts cancer research while you play it.

In Canada, at least the government pays the medical fees for all those that have a "disease". Here, you're asked to donate for...the treatments! You give to the "national health care" from your check. Is the canadian govt got over its debt? You bet, they did! They take your money and spend it for spatial stuff...Do you think they ask themselves if they're greedy? Here, the Bush adm. makes the war. We could all stop to buy things (video, TVs, computers, underwears, cars, etc.) We could have an economical crisis and then, nobody would afford to give for anything.

Charities come up with insanely stupid ideas like having a 'walk for life'. I would donate a lot more money to an organization that would actually hang out with the elderly or mow someone's lawn who's unable to or do the shopping of an invalid.

I dunno if we're greedy, but we're certainly stale!

Hey Tony, think you could change the comments to show the date in addition to the time? Somewhat useless the way it currently is.... (unless this is something *I* control from my blogger profile or something, in which case, I should be embarrassed).
